Yeah, but it was intended as an ultimate end goal for survival on a server. But at class 46, which is what it's at now and a build time of 42 hours, I don't think that's feasible anymore.

With 2 medbays and numerous interconnecting floors and ventilation it would make a nice team PvP arena. Could even fit a small HV per team that would be able to fit through the main corridors but won't be able to get through the smaller areas or use the elevators.

Well, I just had to check out the 9.4 experimental as soon as I read that there were new HV thrusters and rebalancing of several thrusters across BP types. I really hope they keep the new HV jet stats as well as some of the new CPU values. Some of the new shapes were nice too. I didn't check it all out, but I was very pleased with the prospects for my heavy HV tank.

For comparison, here is some of the stats for the original.

    Creative2_2018-03-03_16-35-43.png

It was my first heavy tank. Capable of climbing walls in 1.0 g and hills in 2.0 g. Built back before combat steel for HV. I had started a conversion of the outer shell to combat steel, but that version never made it to the workshop. I was taking too long. Let's just say that mass started to approach 200 tons, but the performance drop overall was small enough to be acceptable still. I probably could have had it done long ago, but I was having an internal debate on adding the cloning chamber as I would have to lose a seat in order to do so. I was trying to avoid any major changes at that time.

Then CPU leaked out there and I had started working on a 7500 CPU conversion of the tank. Which meant a brutal, brutal butcher of its performance. I was rebuilding the tank from the ground up, attempting to capture both the looks and the spirit of the original as close as I could manage. The hit from trying to stay at or below 7500 CPU was so bad that I had to integrate signal work to disable hover engines so you could point the nose up or down.

Well, I am very pleased with the new stats of the HV jets in 9.4 experimental. They are actually worth something now, and not just saving a few CPU in a build. As in actually good HV thrusters. I was able to rearrange the jets in my prototype rebuild of the Thunder Naiad, even reduce a few thrusters to add more ammo storage as well as almost double the number of RCS.

    A9.4 Exp_2019-02-08_22-54-39.png

Remember, I did say I was able to nearly double the number of RCS. 7500 CPU was going to be real brutal on the Thunder Naiad. But this, well, that turning rate is still horrible but this is a heavy tank after all. These are numbers I could live with. This is a tank I could be very happy with. And it no longer needs the trick to bow the nose down to aim the gatling guns at lower targets. So, only the trick to raise the bow up would be needed.

Now, the tank is still a long ways off from completing the conversion. Considering the pace I tend to work at on this, chances are that 9.4 will have moved over to the main branch before I am done refitting the Thunder Naiad.

    A9.4 Exp_2019-02-08_22-54-18.png

As you can see, this interior is completely unsatisfactory, even for me. While I intend to skip the finishing details of paint and texture work to get the conversion out sooner, I want the BP to at least be ready for those final touches. Which means I still have a lot to do. And I will certainly be moving most, if not all of those fuel tanks. That was an initial placement so I could verify that the HV had fuel enough for 2 hours of operation, along with balancing everything for 7500 CPU.

I needed a warp capable SV and never having built one looked over my old designs and found a multi player build that was ready to mod. I made a single player and co op version.

Made a slightly bigger and more capable SV-fighter than my previous SV, the NSI Vargur.

It's made to take on the more challenging POI's in this game whilst having a warp-drive and ample cargo, O2-storage and equipment to also venture out into the great unknown for some exploration without the need to restock every 15 minutes.

HAHA I know right!! Maybe someone can help me understand the SV Warp core . The Warp Core on SV still puts off radiation right ? That is the only reason I have it on the outside of my SV.. I could build an extra area to put the warpcore I guess.

Yep, it generates both heat and radiation. You could certainly leave it outside of the SV, but you really ought to put some kind of armor shell around it in that case.

Ok thanks Geo!!! I might be the only one who wants a smaller warp core but I think the warp core for the SV should be a little smaller than the current one.

Smaller? I am amazed at some of the small SV that safely have a warp drive. As for myself, these are three examples of SV I have that either come with warp core or have a prepared place for it that should be quite safe for pilot/passengers.

    A9.4 Exp_2019-02-10_21-27-17.png A9.4 Exp_2019-02-10_21-27-49.png A9.4 Exp_2019-02-10_21-29-52.png

The rear of the cabin in the Reverence SV has a door.... that grants access to many dangerous bits. Not the least of which is the warp core.

    A9.4 Exp_2019-02-10_21-26-42.png A9.4 Exp_2019-02-10_21-26-47.png

The Swallow SW uses a closed cockpit. So keeping the pilot safe from the radiation is easy. To protect the warp core to some degree, you install it in the cavity behind the cockpit. Sufficient space reserved there for constructor, warp core and warp fuel tank. Stashed in the rear so that entering and exiting the cockpit should be relatively safe from the front of the vessel.

    A9.4 Exp_2019-02-10_21-28-01.png

Of course, sometimes the warp core is a lot closer than one realizes and still everyone is radiation free. This is another shutter door access gimmick to keep pilot and crew safe from the warp core.

    A9.4 Exp_2019-02-10_21-30-11.png

Now I have seen many far more creative ways of protecting the warp drive at the same as protecting pilot and passengers from the warp drive itself. Personally, I am just glad that we didn't get the good ol' donut for the SV warp core.

As for what I did today in the game, well, surprisingly, I made some excellent progress on my hover tank in alpha 9.4 experimental.

    Hey.
Underestimated the Zirax again, now your ship is useless and you need to run? No problem, grab an Escape Pod and be out of range in a moment.
What, you need to run even further? Lucky you, there's a version with a warp drive too.
You're not playing alone? Awesome, both versions do come with a passenger seat on the left side. And if you'll want to store more than the cargo box can handle you can just replace the armor with cargo extenders. You shouldn't enter a fight with these things anyway, so what would you need those armor blocks for?

Would be glad to see ship designs with pod shafts for these creations ;-)

Doing some more work on a POI for my desert storm planet. Will have a few traders who pay a premium for water and who buy some other supplies like fuel and O2. Will also have a few Human NPCs (the planet will have some Humans POIs as well).
