So yeah, the mirror tool doesn't work with LCD signs, window facings, light settings, and texture/paint on some surfaces. Known issues. I can work around it. Finding out a bunch of work wasn't duplicated by the mirror tool when it should have been was a real kick in the pants though. I dunno what happened. I must have forgotten to turn it back on at some point. Maybe. The distribution of work that was mirrored vs not was really odd. Some blocks missing but not a lot. Lots of paint/texture work missing when I'm pretty sure I had the mirror plane turned on. I've almost got it straightened out though.
I thought about that(it would be convenient) but I can still mirror it. It just takes a couple extra steps to mirror one corner to the diagonal opposite side. My problem now is the fact that one axis is shorter than the other making a full copy/paste of the whole thing tricky. It's a problem that's plagued me since the beginning and I've always put off fixing it. I think I have a way around it now though. Since I'm redoing that whole section of the station I can use copy/paste to move the hangar stuff off to one side, fix the structure with another copy/paste, and then move the hangar stuff back. I hope.
Good advice! It came in handy already. First attempt didn't work out but I have an idea. Will have to try it tomorrow.
Gave myself to the Dark Side today...started to build another Base Found a nice Place, flat, with shallow Water areas...
What did today, was try to move an HV with some items in it's cargo containers. Then tried to move an SV even less in it, after trashing over half of what I had. At that point I gave up, and decided the game wasn't worth it until it's fixed.
Did do a lot today. Just worked on a new base to go with A10. Thought about using that old one but didn't really like it after all. For the same reason I stopped using it the first time. No photo yet. Not much there then the foundation. Seems I had to level the land first before I could lay the foundation. No more building underground
"Do not hesitate! Show no mercy!" My recent building shows only the "housing" for the Generator, Constructor, O2 and Fuel Tanks. Nothing more than the Foundation
Made a new Rados POI, a toxic waste treatment plant. They will buy toxic waste, if you're friendly with Zirax of course. Toxic Waste will be sold at most Polaris factories and you can turn around and resell it for a profit to the Zirax here. Though the profit margin is high (50%), toxic waste itself only sells for 3 credits a unit so you're going to need a lot to get any decent amount of money!
Here is the outside of my SV that I'm building in survival . I only showed the interior of the ship in my last post.
Although I have not technically completed the X-11, I started working on the X-13, her chunkier cousin... The X-11 is a small CV and space is limited. Only small SVs (like the standard tier 1) will fit in the top-side docking bay. For the X-13, I increased the width by 2 blocks and the length by 4 to accommodate the larger docking bay and doors. Right now the x-13 is mostly a shell created through a fair amount of CPE. (copy paste edit in Creative mode). The interior will be reworked since their is a [relative] ton more space to work with. Current line of thinking is that the X-11 will be the entry-level CV with standard Steel construction and no preinstalled weapons (just the locations for them), and the X-13 will be the larger, more advanced ship that has some Hardened / Combat Steel (in strategic locations) and weapons preinstalled. The X-13 should also have room for the addition of a shield generator (which is too big for the X-11 --- without taking away something else or killing the aesthetic). - X-11 & X-13 side by side for comparison - - Below is a nice shot of the X-11 in its natural habitat... - - X-11 flight test in progress (worth noting that she is a pleasure to fly, even in atmosphere) - - Also been playing around with a new light attack craft (SV) - Although a bit late on sharing this one since I created it about a week or two back,... I put together a new Heavy Weapons Platform (HV) which also includes all the basic survival gear. (this one is available on the workshop if anyone wants to give it a spin).
It amuses me that ya put the Arty Turret where ya can sit in the Cockpit, take command of the Arty, then move its Barrel down & use the end of it to clip it through the Cockpit & pick your own Player Character's Brain with it. Oh, also, if the Arty locks onto something hugging your HV Nose too hard it may well accidentally put a Arty Round right into that Cockpit awful easily...
I've been trying to start my Shipyard (FAFM-000 ANVIL) for the Millenium for the last 2 days but just can't seem to make the arms right. I've gone through a least a dozen versions and none of them are quite right. Either by dimensions, shape or mechanical accuracy. The bottom parts are right, it's just all the bits that attach to them that are causing problems. Once i've got a solid arm design, they'll connect to big fat rails along either side of the anvil platform, with SV hangars and cargo bays and other useful stuff underneath. (See my signature for one of those smaller hangars)
I've been thinking over how to fix Nexus Station the past day or so. I had to find ways to hide the uneven axis where I could but it's turning out be a real pain to fix it. The first couple attempts were unsuccessful. I thought a simple cut and paste job could fix it. Just move it forward one block on the short sides but it's not that easy. I think I've figured out what I need to do though. The complication and my saving grace is that I hid the discrepancy towards the edges and corners of the station. I had to play with the corner areas to make everything line up with the rest of the station which is why if you took a closer look at the number of windows in the corners you'd notice one side was short. What I did was cut/paste the entire corridor that runs the length of the station between the corner domes and moved it forward a block. That left the structures underneath out of position so I had to cut/paste those individually. After measuring out distances I worked out where the domes position should be and cut/pasted those into place. Now I'm fixing all the block work to make everything neat and tidy again. So far so good. Everything's lining up the way it should. Once that's done I can try copy/pasting the internal hangar structures back into place and see if it lines up properly. It should. I hope. If it does then I can copy/paste the whole damn thing to each side. And the moral of this story is measure twice, cut once!
