Yeah. And to overcome those "building-size" Problems I chose to situate my Base in Space. So I don't have to worry about SI and such stuff. My "bugger" sofar First time in my EGS-Life I tried to shorten my ships Front part as it was at least 12 Blocks to long. Using the Cut-and-past-Tool...I did not perfect but somehow it worked right. That is the view my enemies will see - on the receiving end SV-Plugin Place As it is not intended to actually land this CV the SV will have to handle Personal and HV's as in a Drop-Ship Role
Still doing a survival playthrough of the Reforged Galaxy mod today. Sticking to using prefabs for this, so this is my base presently. It would've been easier if i'd started with a basic starter base and working my way up to something better instead of starting with the Tier 3 Polaris Prefab after working my ass off in the Raider Technical with its limited storage to build it from wrecked ships. RG rewards survival building. Less wait time, better earlygame progression. No waiting to supply the factory with materials. Took on the Abandoned Mine today. Died several times since the enemies got buffed. T2 shotgun proved too slow to take on a horde of Nightmares, fortunately I found a minigun in the Titan wreck which now works wonders against melee enemies coming straight towards you, as long as you have the ammo to support the gun's 6000 rpm. The mass-vs-speed penalty is really screwing with my SVs since their armor is heavier with RG so they now have slower top speeds. Even when the thrusters get upgraded with triple thrust they're not getting any faster. I've taken to getting around in my mining HV since it has better storage and speed than my unladen carrier SV. Might release RG tomorrow since I haven't hit any problems for a while.
Tested my SW Random Galaxy Scenario today with some of my new ships , my Gladiator assault fighter have no warp so my U-Wing have to play the carrier
This gets me imagining...: *You walk in & 2 steps in get blown up...* *Enemy swarm around Backpack wanting to check out the goods...* *You go to get Backpack back...* *Enemy point gunz at yoo* You: "Backpack please." *Enemy stares at you then in Simpsons Abu Voice: "Thank you! Please come again!"* You: "I wa..." Enemy: "Thank you, please come again!" /Abu *You step a little closer & they point their guns at your head VERY threateningly...* "Thank you, please come again!" /Abu *You leave empty-handed...*
My excitement to play the game is gone, but there remains a personal commitment. As such, I chose to work on a tier 1 CV. 12 turrets. Not what I had originally planned in alpha 10. Dropped the space for a warp drive which cut down on CPU and mass. Currently at 3/4 of tier 1 CPU and can fly in 2.0 kg/m^3 atmo for 70 minutes. Space for shield generator inside the hull. No space to carry HV though, unlike my current tier 1 CV on the workshop.
The feeling is mutual. For now I only like "to finish what I have started". Otherwise I let me go astray and do some older games, newly acquired..
As near as I can tell, there has been at least an order of magnitude of fall-off of interest in this game, judging by the numbers I see in the servers list. I used to see thousands of players, now I see hundreds. --B.
I just have to look at my Friendslist, which are a bunch of renowned Builders...only ONE is currently in EGS. Given, there are a couple of them who live in Europe, i.e., Germany, Ireland, England. But most of them, if they play, play other games. Can't complain. Just being sad. In my case its less sadness about the state of the Developments but rather reaching a point of 2 years continuous playing of about 4600h +

I used to see thousands of players, now I see hundreds. I have only 1100+ hrs logged but agree with intrest is starting to lax. I posted on steam, What can I do for fun. replys basically, NOT MUCH. After initial pahse learning the game I found only serveral thing to do. spawn ships i need So collect resources for the above, take over and spawn a base, took Hongo to start, good begining. built a small template base, then majoe expansion. Grow my food. Visit traders, almost useless, made a MIL on collected armor and upgrades but csnt sell much else with QTY's up to 10 or 15 with ammo more but a few bucks only. only trader up is buying autominer cores. reading I here everywhere but have raided and raided alien POI with almost zilch. Visit planet and mine, got 10K to 20K of all the minerals I could ever use, and 100K's of steel plate and armored, etc. Cant sell it as trading is useless, could build 10 CV's but why. Only thing left I can think of is destroy my honored and friendly status with Xirax and Pols and shoot them up. YES this is alpha, YES mechanics must be constantly worked on. YES must rely on feedback. But to continue steady and reliable feedback must keep the players/testers interested and involved. Add content as you work on the mechanics, If we got little to do or be interested in.... buy buy, back to X3 with 1000 times the content. Thats why I deleted X3 from my HD, So addictive I was making up excuses to go to work.. """" and I own the company """" LOL Just my honest opinion as an Alpha/beta tester for IBM for years. Whiz
Making progress on the CS OBERON MKII,... Refined the outer hull a bit and started adding some coloring / texturing. Still a long ways from being complete, but shaping up nicely. Starting defining the basic shape of some interior spaces, such as the docking bay in the pics below. no permanent colors /textures yet.
I think I spent my hours in Empyrion too, and as a builder I can constantly see what the game has to offer. I was busy to roll out POIs for a maybe new faction, and I realized they are not exactly the triangle count to put into a game, what is struggle with the terrain alone. I was exited to be part of the closed alpha forum in the beginning, then it just become a source of frustration. Same time thumbs started to turn into red on Steam and I felt it is time to opt out. Still, sometime I fire up the game and after the last POI I built I thought I make some more. I started and the game crashed, what was made was gone and my enthusiasm went with it. I think better to renovate my mouse or work for money and play games for fun. Name, fame not last. One of the other game I started to play is Carcassonne. It takes me off the grid, and I can buy boxes of the base game to expand it. Expansions are also there to spice it. They are not cheap but other good board games are not cheap either. Germany is a good country to hunt for it on flea markets, because originated from there. Tiles are the same size in any country except the Chinese replica, so they can be picked from any other place.
For me I'm mostly waiting on the multi solar system to be fully implemented so I can take some time to work on the scenario. In the mean time, I'm slowly working away at the new Ocean planet stuff: Started making some ruins. First one made: Jellyfish? They'll have gold and other treasures to find, as well as be part of some PDA missions maybe.
