I really think the RNG hates me this time. I get my base all ready. Shields charged up. Turrets turned off so the Zirax shock troops could land. WOW three mini gun guys and they look to the lake. Went outside and shot at one, he still kept looking at the lake. I had to run in front of them to even get them to engage me. They didn't even try to hack my base. I even turned my shields off and they still looked at the lake. Maybe, better luck next time.
iirc, base attacks are broken and have been for a while. They throw a "Value out of bounds" error in the console when they start, so you get a bunch of braindead zirax you can walk up to and kill with a chainsaw.
Oh just great! The lights are on but nobody is home. What a waste of time getting all set to be taken over. I wind up with zombies. Maybe I should just set tea out for them, if they are just taking a vacation at my base.
Is that the set piece attacks, or some other general background attack? I'm on experimental branch and the set piece attacks seems to be working for the past couple of days. I think before that they may have been dead and perhaps are on the main branch. While I cant remember what else seemed to be broken, I can remember noticing a bunch of stuff that seemed to start to work on the expr branch when I switched over a few days ago.
They may have fixed it in experimental; but not in the public branch and for the last few months. I believe I have a screenshot of it when I first encountered and reported it. GetPriceForLevel - Level is out of bounds (1 to 20) The base attack system assigns a point value and difficulty level to your base based on how many attacks it's survived. Those points are spent on troops and drones of varying strength when an attack is decided. But it bork.
Alright that's the error I just saw when I was attacked by drones. At least they shoot you. But the troops don't. Well sounds like we will just have to wait for an update. I live to fight another day.
My excitement to play and/or create in this game is still severely lacking. However, I did spend a few minutes today working on a CV. The original hull that was started pre-alpha 11 is the ship behind the WIP. However, it was double tier 1 plus a little. Amazing what chopping out the warp drive and the space required plus a few extra blocks did. Focusing primarily on retaining the turrets (12), I was able to bring the vessel down to tier 1 with around 30,000 CPU to spare for adding a shield and space reserved for such inside the hull. Granted without a warp drive, I will have to figure out another way to get it from world to world.
The front half of the crashed prison transport. Still WIP. And yes, the planet is very dark, have to use your light or flashlight to see. It's a rogue planet that was found at the edge of the solar system. Caves can be found. One of your fellow escaped prisoners used this as a temporary shelter: Its ice moon isn't spared from the dark: Unnatural mountain spires can be found on the lava moon: Those who have found the "Unknown Objects" in my scenario might recognize this: This planet is very, very dark. Hopefully it adds to the challenge and the feeling that you need to get off this planet as soon as possible. Not even the space orbit will give you any light, you'll have to build a capital vessel and warp away to escape it.
The Term "Rogue"-Planet, AFAIK, is used for Objects that appear to run not on a normal orbit but Rogue. Coming from outside a Solar System and traversing it only to leave it soon after. So the "No Sun" request would be a common thing while when Crossing a Solar System...well, it would "brighten your day"!
Built this today. A new Zirax orbital patrol vessel: The Chariot-Class Corvette. Exterior's not finished texture and color-wise and there's no interior yet. But it flies.
Well did a little work on a new base idea. Can't have those zombies laughing at it again. The other things I did was to start reading this thread from the start. There were some amazing builds back then in version 3. There is a lot to read but the photo history is fantastic to see!
