Is the camera fixed? I havn't played the game for a month. I have built a tall ship and getting an decent external view is just impossible unless I put the pilot chair at the bottom of the CV. Why is there a limit to how much we can move up and down the camera?
One of the biggest issues I run across on my dedicated server at the moment is fuel use. My friends and I live in different time zones and play at different times so the server is kept up and running which does use fuel which I'm fine with. What I would like is a another fuel option that can reduce using up all of the promethium. I was thinking rechargeable batteries. The use of solar at a base requires a large amount of panels, but I was thinking it would be nice to build solar farms separately from your base in which batteries could be charged and then used in a device at a base to power it. These batteries could then be sold and traded as well for those that need power when there is a lack of promethium or deforestation has occurred for bio fuel.
To build on this, I would very much like to see where vessels docking to a base begin using power from said base, much like an aircraft does after arriving at the terminal and is connected by an umbilical cable.
Switch to third person and then press Alt so you can look around. You can then use the mouse wheel to zoom out. Press Alt again afterwards so you can steer with the mouse.
I may be alone in this, but I really wish that the DEVs would get rid of the "Canned Food" icons/art and replace it with something more Sci-Fi in appearance. The use on Canned anything in a Futuristic Sci-Fi Game has always made me laugh and shake my head!!!! LOL
There's just one thing i'm looking for and that is CROSSHAIRS/RETICLES THAT I CAN ACTUALLY SEE Why is this so difficult to implement - many have been asking for this for years During a single player game set-up i want to chose a style, size and color Instead we get some mysterious package for modders - thanks, that was helpful
That's actually an unrealistic solution. Requiring every person with vision problems to learn to mod to make or implement custom crosshairs is ridiculous. Don't misunderstand... the ability to mod crosshairs is cool... But I feel like this could've been taken a hairline further and offer some default crosshair options in the menu.
The truly unrealistic solution is to expect the developers to do everything for us, the players. I run my own server and make all sorts of changes. Instead of whining about it, implement a productive solution.
Of course "they could" but not in a similar timeframe, and not the same complexity either. And at that point, comparisons are moot because we can do much more with "crosshair customization" than simple "crosshair", and that is not cool : it's mega-cool. And modding crosshair is not hard, it just requires following some instructions. Just like the config files allows everyone to have whatever kind of personal flavor of balance wanted, this is a "benefit" that comes with a little cost. This cost is diminished when players offer their help, and this frees the devs from another eternal forward-backwards cyle of small tweaks players can do themselves. And by the way : crosshair are now supposed to scale with screen resolution. Did players try this ? Not going to repeat the stuff I already mentioned regarding this, but past some point this game has no benefits from higher resolutions, and same quality can be reached (and better performance) with lower resolutions and higher settings. And bigger crosshair ?
I would just like to add what I know has been asked for in the past by many players and that is, the option to play as various ALIEN Races!
I don't want to be a bugger here, but try to follow my reasoning. We only have 2 player character models now (male and female) and just trying to get some small animations besides walk/ run/ jump/ holster weapon it looks like very difficult to make for Eleon, or there is simply no translation from English to German for "animation"... eee... BUT ! We can do "head props" now that can completely cover the head (and more if well done), so technically we could already make alien heads and props and use them (I tried a custom head). Only problem is that to be able to use props, they have to be in a weapon slot (quickbar) and as soon as we change tool/ weapon the prop is removed. Now THAT is something not as complicated to solve as making whole new "alien" character models with complete controllers and animations. And my bet is that kind of thing has a much better chance to be obtained in a reasonable delay (and already working) instead of the "new character model". SO just the ability to maintain props in place (another way to make them active then).
It seems like when a game gives in to modders the devs take a step back in development. Which is exactly what there doing. Space Engineers is prime example of this when devs expect the players to be the devs then it is pretty much a finished game except for a few paid DLC's for added content. I'd guess about another year or two they will move into DLC's for Empyrion. Since Empyrion isn't a mmo it will eventually die as more years go by after the DLC's. Cause updates will stop cause Empyrion will be a finished game. And all that will be left is modders trying to keep the game alive. And even then they will quit eventually cause no updates stale game. I hope Empyrion has a real long life an I hope there will be updates coming in regularly. Without updates games die. I know it is a natural process of things but i'm hoping Empyrion will have a long life. Modders can only do so much to keep a game alive. There not devs they can't push out core updates. It only makes sense the the devs would have to be the ones doing updates not the modders.
Just like the rest of us, you know nothing about what's going on at Eleon's offices. You can try to scare players into whatever you want them to believe, but you will not fool "modders" into thinking that making tweaks and adjusting colors is "game development". In another thread you asked for trees and plants that grow back after placing a base : that's not something "modders" can solve, so if you want the developers to "develop" a solution for your problem then best thing to do is to focus on that, and not on what you could do yourself with a small effort and/ or some help. You have been here long enough to know how much time the developers wasted trying to cather to players for more damage for X weapon and smaller attack range for Y critter. Now we can fix that ourselves and they can focus on core problems, and I think anyone able to understand that does not want to go back in the past.
I'm not trying to scare anyone I just want what is best for the game I love. To be honest this is the best space game out there. I love this game. I just want to see this game succeed. Modders included. I'm not against modders at all. I'm sure they make great stuff. I don't want to see this good game die. I got alot of hours into this game.
thank-you for this reasonable response - even though I don't think it is a vision problem in my case, despite being blind in one eye (and being frikkin old), I play all my games on a 65" 4k TV and this game is the only one that gives me this issue - is it the low resolution of the game being spread over those 65 inches or something else - it's definitely beyond me - - - anyway, i bought the game on sale way back at version 4.0 at the urging of a friend (even though i don't buy EA games) and was hooked despite the rather random aiming i have to do - i've gotten more than my moneys worth but just can't deal with this any more - hoping Project Eden will do something with this mysterious crosshair package (hoping against hope it will be with next weeks update)
I know all of that. Read my post, I have written that I have built a tall ship, a TALL ship. Large, high and not long at all. At the moment, there is no way to get a decent external view on a tall ship if we put the pilot chair at the top of the CV. pageUP and pageDown have a limit to how much thay can move the camera up and down. Why? And I don't want my CV to be 1/12 of the screen and right at the bottom of the screen by zooming out so I can see what is surrounding it. Actually, I can't even see what is below the ship like that.
Really? Build the vessel differently if you have an issue. Stop making this about the developer and instead take ownership of your flawed blueprint design.
