Does it need to know the name or can the ID be used as well? Oh and thank you for this information! Just wish I had known it before I rebuilt the whole poi from scratch again.
It's the name of the blueprint you saved between ' 's (not " "s) It changes the blueprint file's pivot point temporarily, which is why you need to spawn it after using the command so that it spawns centered, then resave that so that it keeps the center after you quit.
Updated my starting planet selection list for my scenario so it's easier to add more starting planets.
Today I decided to revisit an old build and try it with the HV's new 1/2 block generator and fuel tank. Minimal I think it came out a lot better using the smaller devices and I have replaced the existing blueprint in the workshop. The old version is in the background, the new version is in the foreground. It's my motorbike replacement, and is surprisingly quick.
Today - new start. I don't know why - just felt like it. As usual quick level up - off to moon ASAP in my SV + HV and as usual out of nowhere when I'm deep underground in the only thing with a turret on it, along come a hoard of drones from good knows where and start shooting up the SV. So rant time... Yes - that's an modest size upgraded early game SV flying with 3 HVs attached to it. The two tiny HVs on the side are my little sentry HVs that are basically a cockpit and a turret. Just so I can go mining in the HV on the moon and hope to find my SV in one piece when I return to the surface. What a complete pain in the backside it is - you have detach and reattach all this lot just to do some mining all because someone at thinks SV should never have even a pest control turret. Now I do usually end up avoiding this because while I take my mining HV along, it has to do sentry duty while I mine with drone and drill. I guess we should be thankful we have that option instead of mining with our finger nails. I heard they may be considering allowing a turret, but with manual control only? Really? Single player folks. Think of single player. I cant be in my HV mining AND flying CAP in my SV (which of course is what you could do in co-op). Why are you punishing solo players? /Rant
@Khazul I see your Dilemma and I feel with you. If I look at your "Starter-SV" and the attached HV's .... Have you tried it to construct a small CV so you can get your Self-Defense and Transportation volume operational? Or use a SV with a Top Hatch to deploy the Drone for Mining? I prefer since a long time - at least since Dead Planet Starts - this method. Mechanical Drills are a no-go for me therefore I use only the Drone - even in Space - until I can have Laser Drills/Drill Turrets. So I do not use Drill-HV's either.
It is a starter SV - initial build is T2/L7. I have usually built at somewhere between level 7 and 10. It, like a lot of my stuff I use, is designed to grow. It starts in a stripped down form, and eventually gets its last upgrades late in - T4/L20 in the case of that SV. It has a drone hatch. I have a couple of CVs that I use, also designed for very early game construction and remain useful through to late game. One of the CVs is a tiny almost SV size ship that is just big enough for my little HV. But its fugly. It was made as a high grav planet lander as at that game stage, an SV under load would need a stupid amount of thrusters in 4G (bigger thrusters not yet unlocked). That isn't the point. I get the drill very early - actually I could build it and supply it at 5 most of the time, but it doesn't unlock then. Also not the point. The point is some boned headed person has come up with some really dumb idea to say no turrets whatsoever, not even for pest control on an SV. Then to really rub salt in the wound for solo players who like SVs, they make some comment about enabling the turret, but for manual control only. This is just giving solo players the finger. I know this is alpha, but if that is an example of where their thinking is, then its a really bad sign of the mentality behind this game. I head some good in that stream - but this utterly overshadowed it all. Game over kind of overshadowed. This is something where this game departs from any possibly imaginable sensible reality. These days you wont take a helo into a hostile place without someone on the guns. Why the hell should we have to in this when solo? Is this not a solo playable game? If so, they should come clean and say so. There is a whole class of interesting SV ship designs that because pretty much useless in solo play because of this. Its bad enough that SV and HV are forced to be separate things, but this? It needs some serious rethinking.
Thanks for sharing those Info with me. I am not here to discuss with you your way to play/test the game. Each one as he/she sees fit. I play different. (SP with only 4710h EGS Time so far) Devs think different. Not everyone may like it. Game Mechanics have always restrictions somewhere. Don't call the Devs Names. (boned headed person) REALITY in a SF-Game? Which Single-Seated Plane nowadays have a Turreted weapon mounted? Not even the Hughes Apache has it (2-Seater) Planes as Jack of All Trades? Transport Planes with rotating Guns - Hercules Gunship, yes. Oh and even IF we would get - one day - a automated Turret. It would come down to the same issue which we have now with Bases. As soon as I am out of Range/Sight/Playfield/Biome (app. 150m?) - it goes idle. Waiting for me to come closer again. NO Defense. A Sitting Duck. Nb., as I don't face such threats I actually don't know if this has changed already. Conclusion: Play as you see fit - Put request and suggestions in the appropriate part of the Forum (@Hummel-o-War will read it) And who knows. Eventually the day when SV's get fully automated, self-defense Turrets are closer than we all imagine.
As I had no need for such a defense mechanism in the last 3000h I was not aware of its necessity for others.
The issue with zirax not moving after being dropped off/spawned by the troop transport is fixed on the experimental branch B2781 https://empyriononline.com/threads/alpha-11-5-experimental-refinements.91665/
While fixing a texture bug @Germanicus reported, I took a break to admire just how beautiful (and creepy) the dead planets are:
Testing the RogueX (challenge version of Rogue starter). I escape the prison transport! But now what? Guess I make a run for it? This was actually pretty much impossible even on "normal" difficulty! It's insane!
On my Project Eden with Dead Planet start, I have done some raiding in space around it. Accidentally attacked a Zirax station and discovered that it were the Drone Station for the area, now under my command. Modified the inside to have a lot of farms, just for the fun of it, with solar power. Now on the closest planet, an Ocean - sandy one (palm trees). Done some looting and reducing Zirax influence. Promethium mined so can make some rockets for the SV, magnesium from traders. So far saved rockets since using blind spots of POIs and take them over, more turrets as loot. Shielded SV is nice then, save time and resources not repairing. Probably get a simple CV soon, found some crashed vessel wrecks (BA) with thrusters and RCS's.
Made 5 POIs and half a Zirax Destroyer today+yesterday. It sounds impressive, except that 4 of those POIs were tests designed for mining HVs and faction setups. The 5th is a Talon Quarry, which is annoying to spawn into the ground properly and has a problem with the NPC spawners so still needs work. There's also no raw stone texture and concrete looks meh, so it probably won't even be used... The ship on the other hand, was meant to be a destroyer for the Zirax. Unfortunately, it came out looking more like the Titan than any zirax design, so it'll probably be made into a UCH ship and i'll do the Destroyer from scratch as something different.
Lovely Stuff. How about that Marble Texture (that looks more like actual stone) and more Wooden Beams to keep the side walls up instead of Concrete?
Recent attempts to build a Base have resulted in some sort of despair. I found a peaceful Place, almost flat with low Mesas in the rear. First I tried to figure out how large the intended max Size would be and what the Material Costs would be. Result: The outlining alone for HALF the Base takes about 100k CPU, only for Walls 4 Blocks high, made of Concrete, 300m by 150m. Screw that. Log out. Delete Save. Load older Save. Next Try. Main Building in the Center as Starting Point. Almost Flat on top, Dig underground, mainly Armored Concrete, 6 Blocks deep to suit one of the largest Ramps. Ok so far. After finishing the Core Area and the surrounding subterranean Space I noticed a flaw in the layout of the Structure...crap! Deleted structure via Console. Back into Space to my Dockyard rethinking the Possibilities.
@Vermillion You have some brilliant designs, I need to get around to working on my faction again one of these days. I have so much invested in it already, so there's no giving up on it haha I have another deployment coming up this December, so it's bound to happen. The boredom can be extraordinary at times, which makes tinkering with Empyrion almost therapeutic.
