Fixed Any building causes crashing and freezing

Mode: Survival, creative

Server name: N/A single player and co-op

Seed-id: 1742662471 (currently project eden save) But has happened in multiple saves

Modified playfields: yes and no (Standard, creative, reforged galaxy, project eden)

Summary: Building reoccurring crash

Description: Every time I am building I get a few blocks in and the whole game freezes up ( 10th crash today). i started a new game and started building a base and it happened again. I can play the rest of the game normally without issue, it only happens when building and the blue block is up for placement.


Troubleshooting:

I have Updated GPU, windows and deleted and reinstalled the game.

I have set the .exe to run as admin, windows 8 compatability (seems to last a bit longer before crash) disabled full screen optimizations. i have deleted and re acquired unityplayer.dll and it still continued


System specs: Windows 10 Pro, I7 – 4790k 4ghz, Geforce gtx titan X GPU, 16 gig ram, running from ssd

Each time after Full system freeze and reboot I’ve checked event viewer and seen these.

creative OR Survival. Creative is using seed 0(Zero) Survival all the others.

If you used console command to switch between Survival and Creative and eventually saved over an existing survival save...well...all gone to hell.(corrupts all savings)

 

i have had the same crash in creative while building as i do in normal games i dont use console to switch between games i use different saves

i was playing for a bit tonight and even when putting a plant down it gave the same error i have had to place 1 block then 1 more its very slow lol i played for about 2 hrs tonight and had 4 crashes

You may be onto something about the save games. i deleted all of my old games and (touch wood) i havent had a crash and have been building like crazy for an hour.

 

No such luck now its crashing again after 1 hour i got 2 crashes while repairing sv ( the rest of the game runs fine ) but i cant figure whats causing this crash. i will attach new logs from the most recent crashes.

I am just looking at where i want to place a block with the Blue outline up and then freeze crash Hard reboot to fix.

original crashes were in 1920x1080 exclusive full screen
this latest one was in 1920x1080 windowed (all i was doing was running the build blue block over the hv Not placing the blocks) this froze but i was able to alt tab the first time
full screen windowed same crash
Sorry taking a bit because i have to keep hard booting my pc

ill try the other mode now

 

After completely removing the game and all left over files i reinstalled and without downloading any mods went into creative and the crash still exists but i was able to find this if it helps.

 

He seems to have a Intel (onboard?) Graphic too - might be that one works against the other?

Hey Pantera (love the name by the way), Before getting your last message and troubleshooting my butt off for the last few days. I decided to reformat my c drive tonight so I have a fresh start and I will test it over the next few days and let you know if its stopped. I was able to play and build for a bit tonight with no issues. Spammed about 10000 blocks and nothing happened so hopefully it was windows being dodgy. with 900Hrs in game. I do not think it was the game. But thanks for your time looking over the logs will report back soon with a good result hopefully.

 

Hey mate I though of that and part of my trouble shooting was to disable it which I never had to do before but lets hope the reformat did the trick lol so I can get back to building. Thanks for assisting.

 

So after a full reformat and re upgrading of windows 10 and gpu i am still getting the same crash i will try to contact nvidia to see what they say
sometimes it works for ages other times i get 5 minutes and poof same crash

 

I have been trying to see if other games have any issues

so far average for an hour cs:go sits on 250 fps average

 

I can't help to think that the real issue here is with Nvidia Drivers and their Problems with Games under Win10..and there are lots of them. I just looked up the current release 456.38 WHQL and the Issues in combination with Win10.....

scroll through the Version History - there are entries of Win10 issues - unsolved - with TitanX cards.

Was there a time you could play Empyrion without crashing?

Another thought ... because of recent events of my own:

What is the power outpot of your Power supply? PC "Doctors" can check that with a Tool.
Your TitanX draws 250W (by the book) and building structures in EGS is a very GPU Power hungry moment.

 

hey mate, i was able to play non stop for the first 880hrs to 900hrs then it started getting a crash every now and then now its crashing all the time it could be NVidia drivers that's why i contacted them. they are having me run a gpu test thing for an hour to see if its my card or not (hope not it was expensive lol

my power supply is 600 watt

i dont overclock my gpu or computer at all so im hoping its just a hiccup in their drivers and they fix it quick cuz a new card will be expensive

i will check that link about the drivers so i can ask them about it but i just saw another thread that kinda sounds similar to mine

im just able to run the game on my laptop its giving me a low memory warning when i start the game but it hasnt crashed yet
gpu: Nvidia GTX850m (with a wopping 5fps) haha I7 12 gig ram

Bring the IN GAM Graphic Setting to max 1600x900 (16:9) that should improve your FPS. Preset Graphics to fast.
I had an even older GTX 780m and it worked up to 50FPS in the above described way.

If your Laptop can manage the game...well IMO that points to an issue of your PC.
