This CV in these Pics... My first ever... near-PVP-like Combat-Cube!!! And only Class-2 !! Without the real Cube thing, and without burried thrusters (they are hidden, but not burried!) and without burried weapons (not sure if thats still possible) - but with multiple Armor shields covering any vitals, 2 Hangar places big enough for twice my Super-Heavy Combat-SVs "Mark 5". Even with 4 Growing plots, Adv. Constructor, Food processor, Repair Station, Armor locker, O2 Station, Fridges and Cargo boxes... Nearly a mobile Base... nearly.... nah... not really. Nevertheless. Welcome the RAMMBOCK. A near-cube-shaped Combat CV. (I'm showing here the standard weapon layout, personally I'm using a Variant with only Pulse lasers and Rocket Turrets for easier Ammo restocking and testing - and better visuals when firing !! ;-) UGLY. Isn't it?! Super Compact and Ugly. But it can withstand 20 minutes of permanent AI Space POI Turret fire (>15 turrets simultan!) without any problems (besides some destroyed own turrets of course) - when I really don't do anything (even deactivate my own Turrets that is...) Now the Thrusters? Burried?? Spoiler: NO. There are two very nice gimmicks included: 1) Park position indicator for SVs. You know that from Car wash stations. Two Landing Bays. (Yes, thats 4 (FOUR) Double-Hangar-Doors!!) ... approaching... ... and... ... STOP. CV has even Micro-Base-Capabilities... 1 Pilot + 2 Passengers - after 3 layers of Combat steel. At least. 4 Growing plots, Adv. Constructor, Food processor, Repair Station, Armor locker, O2 Station, Fridges and Cargo boxes... It's tight and narrow. But highly functional! 2) Now the second gimmick. Condition-RED-Lightning! After Activating Combat-Thrusters and Space-Weaapons... Red lights turning ON! Of course full Turrets (even one Drill and one Tool turret in the standard config) and good manoeverability in Combat condition: I'm not sure, if that would really survive PVP encounters, but for testing POI behaviors or these 4 Carriers simultan attacks its PERFECT ;-) (yes I know I sadly have to remove the one growing plot infront of the generator, it's too hot there)
Hi @rucky! You recently criticized the color design of my CV! When I see your RAMMBOCK I think we have to seriously discuss this! Joking aside: Is a good ship! I have already seen it in action!
yes, I got inspired... it should be first seen as a child's toy ship... unleashing it's true power when it's too late for the prey (only joking...)
Since most builders are here anyway: Does anyone care for a PVP CV building guide? That would be thorough explanation of lagshots, armor against it, weapon placement, general building guidelines, what to put where, how to get CVs to move at SV top speed, oxygenation tricks and related things. I've seen quite a few people posting CVs and writing something along the lines "this should work in PVP" and when you look at it you tend to need at least a Picard double facepalm from a PVP perspective. Obviously not everyone wants to participate PVP but additional knowledge about game mechanics never hurts (and some things apply to PVE aswell). However if nobody here really cares I wouldn't want to put the time in.
I asked @Pantera recently about that and he replied that Bug was fixed some time ago. Do you have evidence that this Bug still exists?
No, I do not. Ask anyone that frequently engages in PVP fights and ask if lagshots are gone. It still happens and that won't go away until hit detection receives some major changes. It does happen in PVE, too, even though less frequently. This is different than some blocks just being ignored under certain circumstances (which was fixed). Here is a recent (just two weeks old) video showing a SV battle where a fully enclosed cockpit was shot out:
was a bit too fast for me too see that correctly... how thick the armor is/was, if it's damaged, if AOE damage occured (still cockit is 700 HP which is a lot) @Pantera is this video proof that lagshots still exists?
[Edit: Ah whew! It was an older one Well I can actually ask my question now; I made a passenger HV, but thinking on it I'm not sure it'd be worth publishing.. Would anyone actually use a passenger HV when they could just say screw that and get a SV? [Edit again: Working on publishing OreMaw -1- You know you've made a good 4.5 x 10 x 4.5 HV when you finish taking screenshots showing it from diff angles, control systems etc and have 20 screenies at the end... Yesh
Yes please. Half of the reason to be a builder is to supply our "genius" with others. If you want to take the time to guide us I will gladly read your tutorial. Then I can slap 'PvP capable' in my advertising spiels and maybe even 'Knumskull approved!' ^^
A bug report with a reproduction case is needed where it reproduces. Ideally a save file setup where going into it & doing what is done in the video is reproducible. https://empyriononline.com/threads/bug-reports-alpha-7-3.28284/
Sure, I can set up a lab environment with artificial lag to make shaky hit detection reproducible. No problem, my name is SirKnumLikesToDoFreeQAForOtherPeopleskull after all. Somehow reminds me of that EAC mass kick bug that totally wasn't a bug and totally a problem with our server.
Nice, my old planet-buster CV is a size class 5 and only has 2 layers of combat steel on the outer hull. Have you uploaded it to the workshop?
not yet, didn't thought someone could find this thingie interesting ;-) I will do... give me a few minutes... already changed a bit again ;-) edit: you want a special version? I can upload: - Full level 25 max turrets (per weapon restrictions) ? - or Early Access level 15 with only Minigun and Cannon turrets ? - or my special Rockets en masse version?
No knowledge is ever wasted, you may have insights that others have missed. It would also be good to have a guide for beginning builders.
Thank you, I'm going to kick the "tires" and see how it goes. <sigh> I tried the low-level, upgrade-as-you-go approach on my HPODS, and they have never been as popular as I would have hoped. I would recommend that you upload the version you like the most.
