Today I worked on both the planetary and space tugboats. I have always hated how the entry ramps worked and have been waiting for something better. The new ramp sizes in Alpha 10 gave me an excuse to work on them again. The old version is on the right, the new on the left. This is the planetary version, the paddle has an upside-down repair bay and multiturret. The idea was to fly over a HV and repair it while it was on the ground. I plan to upload the new versions once Alpha 10 drops.
Here you go! I whipped it up pretty quick so it's not the best explanation but it does include a sample blueprint so hopefully you can use that as a starting point: https://empyriononline.com/threads/creating-holographic-lcd-screens-formatting.49246/
The station overhaul continues to increase in size and scope. I *was* just going to build some hangars. How hard can it be? Pfft. So I'm sittin' there last night playing design tetris and trying to figure out a good place to stick the furnaces. I tried a couple different spots but it wasn't working out for multiple reasons so I started digging out the sides next to engineering which led to deleting a few things to extend the hangar level which led to ripping out all of the engineering sections. I mean, I was planning on doing that aaaaaanyways. Just not quite yet. On a different note some of the design work on the station is kind of cringe worthy to look at now(like the aforementioned engineering section). I was so proud of it at the time when I built it. This redesign is turning into a real chore but it will be worth it in the end. I had a dream that was Nexus Station. It shall be realized. A couple screenies of work in progress if you like that sort of thing. Spoiler The first copy/paste of the hangars went well. Doors on both sides now! The old utility corridor. Dingy grubby thing that only served as an access point for the elevators. After I ripped that out and started working on that area. Split it into a couple levels. When it's finished it will be a bright, shiny thing that still serves primarily as an access point for the elevators. Oh and the hangars now too. Area above the corridor that I'm going to do....something....with. Gratuitous shot of the hangar The old engineering section. It was a bit of a mess really with the way things fit together and it no longer fits the aesthetic I'm going for. Ripped it alllllll out. Awaiting new fixtures. The decision to add functionality to the hangars by adding furnaces/storage/constructors has increased the complexity and scope of this section immensely. Also complicating things is the decision to better integrate the maintenance tunnels running behind the hangars. Those will help better connect the city levels/inner hub to the outer rim sections of the station. Complicating things as usual is the fact that the station is two blocks shorter on one axis than the other. It makes copy/paste functions a little trickier. The plan is to finish one set of hangars(two hangars, the corridor/lounge section between them, and the manufacturing section on either side that will bleed into engineering) and use copy/paste to replicate the changes over to the remaining sections.
A like don't seem to cut it, so a bit of text The Nexus station was and is one of the impressives station out there! I can feel the pain to erease large parts of it for a rebuild and i'am sure it will be better than before! On my end it helps to work on something else(where) or looking for inspiration if i have no clue as of how i want a part. Yesterday evening was so a moment. Went outside the the landing pad to play with textures there, but nothing wanted to stick with me. So i looked at the cockpit of my last HV and thought why not use this for a new SV. Spend half the evening on it then. For the base i have got meanwhile a few new ideas that wait for creation now.
Thought I'd check out the new blocks in A10. One thing led to another,... result is what you see below. The X-11 Cargo Ship. Still very much a WIP; I would not call any of it actually 'complete' at this point, mostly a rough outline. In fact, there are a ton of holes in the hull still since I am currently configuring the interior spaces. Still reworking the outer hull as well,... This build incorporates some of my design language from my Exo-Frame CVs and more traditional builds. Leaned towards a military design so this one has a moderate amount of turrets for defense / offense and 3 rocket launchers (mounted in a pod on the port side of the craft), and kept the exterior a few shades of grey. Still needs a lot of texturing / tweaking. Most of the thrusters are contained within external pods. The CV currently features a pass-through cargo bay / docking bay and a top-side SV docking bay. I like the pass-through cargo/docking bays for the practicality, but I may allocate one side to become a constructor/maintenance area. When complete, she will be warp capable and have most of the basic survival needs. This is a smaller CV (class 2 at the moment), so no crew quarters or much 'fluff', just the basics/necessities. Thinking I post it to the workshop in two versions. (once A10 goes live) - Entry Level: All Steel, no preinstalled weapons or tool turrets. - Mostly Steel, some Hardened/Combat Steel, weapons and tool turrets installed. Also been working on some new SV designs, like the SV1001 shown below... (which you can sort of see in a couple of the pics above).
Remember @ravien_ff Zirax Base on the Lava-Planet? He had such "features" included in the Base...eventually you can "C+P" them?
Where do you think I got the inspiration from? But I want to use those textures on a space station, not a lava planet. Looking at a pic by someone else and I can't figure out what the hell block they used for something. It looks like they used a half sized round slope but that block doesn't exist.
Been spending time converting workshop blueprints into custom trade station POIs for a trading update. Here's the awesome GT M.O.F.O. Station by Santa, converted into a basic component factory that will buy ingots and sell large quantities of basic components. Some loose cargo boxes floating nearby because it's a convenient place to store them after all. Draws a lot of power so it needs a lot of solar panels. Also could make an interesting station to capture because of the large number of solar panels. I love making POIs, but I am constantly blown away by the amazing bases and creativity posted here and on the workshop. It would take me so much longer to make each blueprint from scratch myself and I'm thankful for the amazing creations that people share. Aiming to have about a dozen custom factories, habitats, trade stations, etc, that buy or sell in bulk to allow players to obtain meaningful amounts of resources from trading and open up commodity trade routes for profit.
Amazing all. Suitable impressed down here. Well yesterday I tried and died.....repeatedly. Well as a newbie player I figured I would build an HV for Exploration but couldn't build a Turret as I didn't have a place to place a large constructor. Well that went badly and lost the HV along with all the items to a few drones that called in friends and ended up with 6 in total. So started again and was a little more cautious. Build a new HV and still no place to make a Turret so made a base. Before I even had time to place the generator and power I was set upon by 2 Drones. and barely escaped with my life and HV. Pictured below is the remnants of the HV and you can see the newly replaced blocks after repairing the others. But we getting there. Now to decide if I continue to try and build my own base or to spawn one in with turrets....although that feels a little like cheating.
God, needed 6 or 7 tries to find a pleasing way to incorporate a closed cockpit into an "open cockpit" and give it a not bulky exterior. Now it is done, finally. Also it is my first finished A10 build. Only taking screenies and then up to publishing it!
Have done a few last changes before release but now here is the Vasquess Prototyp. An experimentall Point Attack Craft. It got 6 Gattlings, 4 Rail Guns and 4 homing Rocket Launchers. Warpdrive, Shields, Production-Line with 2 constructors and 20k storage + 3k Ammo, 2 Fridge and a Medic Cabinet also a bed for longrange trips. more screens and download are here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1752461053 Have fun with this and the A10 exp!
Alas, the Millenium still needs work... Been sticking up LCD signs on every available space, a few more lights, some landing gears, set up a whole lot of signals and stuff for controlling the doors and lights and I finally took it for a test flight now that it's (apparently) done. Turning is a lot more sluggish than it was 2 months ago when I last took it for a flight, but not terrible considering its size. Landed it on a planet. It handles fine in 1G gravity, a bit slow to rise though and a nightmare to steer since it's so big that I have to keep the third-person view way out to see around the ship and so makes it impossible to judge the distance to the ground. Here it is on the ground, with a size comparison with the largest Prefab CV in empyrion.
The last time I designed the engineering sections on Nexus station I didn't have much of a plan beyond "this is where the power generators go". This time I have more space and pretty good idea of what I want. Spoiler The domes I added to the outside corners have unused hollow space in the lower part. They hook up with engineering and they're a good spot to put a Star Trek style warp core. The power generators will be on either side. This time the station is going to have eight hangar bays and each one will connect to one of the engineering compartments. The hangar bays themselves will have things like a repair station, armor locker, medical stuff, o2, etc. Walk next door and you'll find an entire industrial manufacturing facility. I'm still working out the details. Version 1.0 Version 2.0
Holy hell this looks rad! I wonder if it would dwarf even my Deathmaw...? Plus it has a sexy shape compared to my Deathmaw's 'glorified box' look. The guns look hilariously tiny on it... I wonder if we'll ever get moar bigger guns for our CVs...? *Prays to Arceus for this to come to be...* For the Topic: Tried to finally prepare my gorgeous (To me... your mileage may vary.) Hover War Tank for display here on this Thread, but buggers & bugage showed up to crash the party... plus a couple problem spots in its Painting & Texturing i'd swear wasn't there before. The latter was easily fixed, but the former awaits Dev Fixes... >_< I love Axes most... but times like this when War Hammers can be tempting to wield for Bug Hunting purposes...
