For more information see here Bug Report Template Build: 3810 Mode: Single player Mode: Creative SERVER NAME: NA SEED-ID: Any If applicable: MODIFIED PLAYFIELDS: No Reproducibility: Always Severity: Moderate Type: Sun visuals Summary: Stars are missing their flare effects. Description: Stars viewed both in space and on planets are missing their flares and other visual effects making them look, well, very bad. This also affects Project Eden's suns which are heavily customized in the galaxyconfig file, so it's not a galaxy config issue. Steps to Reproduce: 1) Start a new default survival game. 2) Look at the sun. 3) Go to space and look at the sun from space. For the record this is what they look like on the current 1.7 live branch of the game (they respect their galaxy config settings for flare size, etc):
I can confirm on 1.8 Exp II, SP Default (no mods), the stars do not have their flares like 1.7, everything looks flat like the 'bloom' setting doesn't do anything or something. I flipped a couple graphics options on/off and applied them, nothing fixed it.
The flare for stars is set in the galaxy config file and shouldn't depend on graphics settings. The default size in vanilla is 1.0, my custom stars all have various flare sizes set yet in 1.8 no star has a flare showing regardless of the setting used in galaxy config. I assume this is something due to the new unity engine update.
