Can confirm that this occurs with retracted CV Turrets as well, starting with the most recent patch. I suspect it applies to HVs and BAs as well but will need to test and confirm. May put in my own report over the weekend.
The turret part of the retractable turrets block will get culled after a few seconds when the turret is retracted which is working as intended. You will only notice this when using godmode & then clipping in to the block. Are you able to show an issue without godmode & clipping in to blocks ? I'm not 100% sure what you mean ? do you have that block place on a another block that isn't showing ? Can you link to the save ? In the video it starts at B4019 then a second video is done in the latest public build I don't don't notice a difference in this & other examples of using this block (I placed the landing block in this location to be able to see it closer up for the sake of checking with it retracting & extending): https://streamable.com/9qe7s7
I am not clipping into the block. I am viewing the turret from a distance. As for the landing gear: the same. There seems to be the housing of the gear missing, you can only see some floating decals.
I guess I have to apologize for the inconvenience, since this issue is occouring in Reforged Eden. And obviously only on positron turrets. I thought, it was also an issue with the new culling system, for it affected the sentry guns aswell in Vanilla. You can close / delete this thread. Or leave it open for other players, that are / were confused like me.
Okay, it's not Reforged Eden only. This occours also on rocket turrets in Vanilla. But vice versa. This time the base block remains, but the covering plate disappears. Also when I add different types of turrets to any build, they won't retract anymore.
I have started a completely new creative game in Vanilla, and now I cannot retract any turret by using the P menu. Only by using the device menu and deactivate them manually.
Here is every CV retractable turret, in vanilla, in survival mode, without god mode, and without clipping into any blocks (I am using the drone to get this screenshot, not god mode). I only tested CV turrets here, but these screenshots will prove that there are issues here, and the devs need to look into every turret. Unless you are going to tell me these two turrets are supposed to look like this.....
I just tested all the retractable turrets in vanilla. Again no god mode was used at all and no clipping into blocks. Just placed them all down and retracted them all. Easy enough to replicate. This was also all done in a survival save. The only command used was item menu to give myself all the turrets and starter blocks, and debug info so you can see the block names. It seems all the retractable tool turrets and the retractable rocket turrets are the issue, for all structure types that have them.
Now in those screenshots, about a second or two after they retract, culling happens suddenly and the tool turrets suddenly turn into just a floating plate. It isn't instant in my game and takes a second or two. Again, god mode is not active and no clipping into blocks for the screenshot is occurring. It sure seems the culling is the issue here from the player perspective. It is visible without using god mode as I have said. You would easily see the bottom of your turret block missing if it was part of the external hull, as it typically is in most builds. Tool turrets are only a top plate, and rocket turrets are missing their top plate.
That is exactly the issue I have! Thank you very much for providing some additional evidence. I already thought it was either only happening to me or I have finally gone insane. I talked to Vermillion (one of the RE creators) and he told me that he uses the vanilla drill turret as the base model for the RE SV positron turrets (which I am having the issue with in RE). And since you verified that the issue affects tool and rocket turrets, it all makes sense now.
I just tested and got same result as both of you , however if I deploy and retract it fixes it self. after checking i realised the issue is weird than it looks as its not playing the animations Issue also exists on the Official Servers
Not for me. A couple to a few seconds after I retract them again and then take a step or two they break again for me.
You will need to provide a way to reliably reproduce the issue with clear steps + a save game where it reliably triggers for you. Make sure you are on the EXP branch as this is the EXP branch sub forums.
It still exists for me too, same as before, but on stable branch. Did you test in experimental? Since you reported this in the experimental bugs they might mean it is fixed only in experimental currently. I can confirm though it is not fixed on stable (but again, I don't think it means on stable).
Sorry, I didnt mean to post in Experimental bug thread. I didnt even know there is a bug thread just for Experimental. The issue still exists for me in Vanilla. Doesnt matter if its an old or newly created creative or survival game. Its easy to reproduce. Just start a game, spawn in any HV and put a retractable multi tool turret on it. Then make it retract. After 2 seconds the whole turret disappears, only the top hatch remains visible.
