Doing more and more structures, and some of them needing things like bathrooms and/or kitchens... it has become apparent, we need small blocks for sinks Right now the bathroom vanity is 2 blocks long, same with the kitchen sink. Would be wonderful to get some 1x1x1 versions of those two (lop off cabinetry and leave the sink with a standard cabinet under and above?). On a note of the toilets and showers, would be great if the back three walls, were standard 'steel' texturable walls. So we can fit them as sort of a "U" wall, where the backside looks like any standard cube block that takes texture and color. Having to bury a toilet/shower block, in a ring of more blocks, eats up a ton of space in a small dwelling. Going further from that, it would be really wonderful to get a 'crew quarters compact utility unit'. Pretty much a sink and toilet in a 1x1x1 space. Heck, MAYBE squeeze in a shower too as sort of a golden trio-in-a-block. Sorry... this post sort of went off topic lol.
The Water Well An old fashioned water well... kinda. It's the biggest fill station on the planet! Some assembly required. I couldn't bring myself to weather it, so it doesn't really fit my theme yet.
Moving along on my own set here too. I keep finding that I go back to the other structures and tweak, and re-blueprint, and tweak. Be awhile before I actually post any bp files. Prolly when I'm all done with them all lol. >> My Ever-Growing Gallery <<
@Hummel-o-War I'm just curious before I upload any more do you prefer them being uploaded here or are you ok with them being on the steam workshop ?
I tried my hand at an Epsilon-style housing unit. In order to do that I tried to identify the predominant characteristics of Epsilon architecture and found the following: No or very few vertical walls, lots of 1-1 slopes, invert slopes for upper storeys, predominant colours: (light) grey, dark green, yellow, fat cross base outline with diagonally filled up corners. So here's the basic housing unit I came up with. I don't know how Epsilons actually live, but given the humanoid physique of their foot soldiers I assumed they live pretty similar to humans (and, honestly, there are no alien interiors yet). In order of appearance including the image above: from the side, from the rear, front, interior, core and generator hidden behind shutter doors, living area, kitchen right, kitchen left, bedroom, fuel and sewage pipes at the rear corner. I would very much appreciate some feedback of whether it is worth going further down that route or whether I should change basic principles before starting additional buildings (I had thought of transmission facilities/civilian communication, freighter platform + storage, infirmary/small hospital, workshop/production centre, local administration hub, and a bar for recreation.)
Nice! I really dig the wood embellishments, and the color/texture of the interior floor is a great choice too.
I'd say go with it. Its a different style than I've seen forcasted so far, so thats good! The more varied the styles, the better for this project.
For those working on this project: Dont forget... GODMODE! Get to know your friendly 'console' with the "F9" key. Type "godmode". This puts you in a much smoother jetpack mode, where you can move much faster around (shift and ctrl keys adjust speed). Also, it allows you to 'clip' through terrain and structure. This is most important for fixing the 'bottom' of your buildings so they are flat. You can go underground, look at and add blocks, and even texture/color down there. Godmode also allows you to texture surfaces you normally cant aim at due to collision box issues (like trying to paint the visible surfaces behind a o2/fuel tank). Just move yourself INTO the offending block, then you can aim and texture/color adjacent blocks with ease. Dont forget... STOP TIME! You can find the time controls by hitting 'esc' and clicking the 'finger of god' icon to the right of the menu icons up top. Use these time of day sliders to your benefit! Stop time. Work in late dawn, early dusk for the best visuals and screenshots. Flip it to midnight when you need to see if your light fixtures are working right!
Toyed with the new statue blocks and an idea with 'ground cutout' for a structure above and below ground... "Dig Site A7":
@Hummel-o-War Your initial post seemed to suggest this would only happen 'on ground'. So..... what about space? I know there are some keen space-station builders around here who might possibly love the challenge. What are your thoughts about someone making 'zero-G' civil buildings and settlement pieces? A mixture of things that would all be floating in close proximity to each other in space. Imagine a peppered asteroid field area of misc station structures, residences, and other utility like buildings. Thoughts?
And here goes second part of "Colonial Set". It's includes: Factory Fuel storage Oxygen storage Oxygen dispenser Public restrooms First aid station "Noodle orbit" restaurant Spoiler: Pictures Factory and it's interiors Oxygen dispenser Oxygen storage Fuel Storage Public Restrooms Inside Public restrooms First aid station +interior Noodle Orbit And updated "family photos" First part
No kidding! I love the 'staging' of it too with the bikes outside lol. Thats a sweet set. Love the uniformity you presented in it as well. I totally forgot making 'public restrooms'! Gonna have to add a unit of that need to my set too. Good call
