Less dead weight (RCS, fuel tanks, hull blocks, generators), and more thrusters. I have a theory that craft shape plays some small part (a cube wouldn't move as quickly as a rocket-shape) but I also think the physics engine isn't detailed enough yet to have that be an effect. If you aren't hitting 100% power usage, then the extra generator is just dead weight. As in, it's not doing you any good to have it there. TL;DR: Less weight, more boosters.
Wow that might be it, When placing my cockpits I always rotated them 180 degrees. Ill try that! You have no idea how annoying interstellar travel is with 10mps... :-/
This is one I have called the Slicer. I used the Imperial Navy Slicer from EVE as a reference for this. At this scale, this was the closest I would dare get to it. Features: 2x Generators (redundancy) 2x RCS (With room for 2 more) 3x Fuel Tanks (One for redundancy) 26 assorted thrusters 2x Gatlings 2x Rail Guns 2x Rocket Launchers 2x Plasma Cannons 1x O2 Station 1x O2 Tank 2x Fridges (Because why not?) 8x Cargo Boxes. Everything is either fully or partially protected. With all 3 tanks full, in space, can get about 52m of power while moving diagonally and shooting. Over 200m idle time. Haven't tested on planets (lack of time), but it's meant to be a space fighter. it can go from 110m/s to 0 in ~1sec. The only direction lacking thrust is going down (for easy landing.. don't wanna crash!). Every other direction is incredibly zippy.
This is the Rifter, from EVE Online. It's a combat frigate. I kept it in the SV class though. Here's a download link if you want to check it out in game. Rifter v3
My first SV build, got the game last week and haven't been able to put it down. The ship my version of a light class Klingon scout. Equipped with two plasma cannons and of course a missle launcer . In the body of the ship is a small compartment accessible via an automated door. The ship comes complete with dual fuel containers, generator, fridge, storage containers, small construction terminal and a passenger seat. She has four rear engines and two forward facing engines with numerous directional engines for solid control. I've armor plated the belly and other key components for battle situations. All the critical items such as the core etc are well protected deep inside.
I forgot to add, though it looks like there's no landing gear I decided to recess the gear into the body of the craft. I may have to change that as I haven't tested it out on a capital class ship yet but it does show the dock option in the cockpit. Initially I added the landing gear to the bottom but with the length of the neck leading to the cockpit even with a set of landing gear feet on the nose she had a tendency to want to tip when grounded. I have to say the Physics in the game are very realistic. It took a bit of trial and error in directional thruster placement to balance out the performance of the craft. As of now I think I have a good balance between speed and maneuverability. I was able to do barrel rolls on planet fairly low to the ground with no noticeable slip downward and good control.
Not quite finished, but here's a few shots of my current CV project. Currently clocks in at 400meters long (approx) and 111k-tons. It is still mostly empty inside, so that number will be higher when it's finished. At idle, it has about 56 hours of charge, which is reduced to about 40 minutes at full steam ahead. Armor plating has been added to nearly every exterior flat surface since screenshots have been taken. (Which added 30ktons just by itself) Additional pics here
so .. some CVs from my own faktion : Spoiler: GCLC Amboss Spoiler: GBCLC Serentos Spoiler: GBSLC Valhalla
big brother to my above ship. Built it yesterday. could probably make some more additions and add guns but i ran out of resources and didn't feel like going mining
Sir that rifter is a thing of DAM BEAUTY!!! eve swallowed up about 7 years of my online gaming life in glorious pvp and as a minmatar pilot i can say you chose the most iconic frigate ingame to recreate!! Im currently building a tempest fleet issue as a C.V and started looking through this forum to see if any other eve ships had been done..and see this.I cannot emphasize enough how good of a job you did here, its freaking flawless in detail.how long did this take?? I've only completed the forward bridge back to the topsails and its taken days!! let alone filling in the fine detail.
Thanks man! I'm glad you like it! I love the Minmatar ships too, they're definitely the most sinister and brutal looking ships in the Eve universe. The Rifter in Empyrion though, took me probably a week or so of staying up late to build. I'm a bit of a perfectionist with a side of OCD, so I kept rebuilding sections until it looked right. But I'm happy with how it turned out, I wasn't even sure if it was possible when I started. I actually have other Minmatar ships in the works/planned. Just been really busy with real life work recently, so haven't had much time to really dig in. I do have one now that is extremely close to being flight ready, I'm still working out the interior and thruster placement, but it's getting there. I really wanted to do an asymmetrical ship, to challenge myself, and since most of the Minmatar ships are asymmetrical, I had a lot to choose from. Keep in mind this is basically just a shell, with little to no detailing at the moment, and this was earlier on in the build, but here's a peek... Spoiler The Probe
Can't wait to see them. I'm working on the Amarr Arbitrator myself bit by bit (with slight design changes for use in EGS - I refuse to have a forward-facing hangar. Nope.) and I might redo my Imperial Navy Slicer on a larger scale some day when I have more time to do so.
