    Hello Galactic Survivalists!

Today we start the last round of the Empyrion Galactic Survival v1.10 Experimental Phase with a major focus on bugfixing!

Of course there are also some smaller and bigger additions this time! The new blockshapes for our builders are now implemented and also the Blueprint Parts Collection Tool got its last addition with the "Snap Point" feature. You can find a video about this below.

We also worked intensively on the Drone Bay and fixed many problems. We would like to ask you to try out again whether the errors are fixed and the functions are available as expected. Please destroy any spawned personal drones & remove & replace the drone bay & spawners once again to make sure everything is fresh with the latest bug fixes.

Please also continue to use our pinned forum threads for all central feature feedback topics: https://empyriononline.com/forums/experimental-features-discussion.35/

We wish you a lot of fun and thank you for all feedback and bug reports so far and for those still to come! :)

I hope eventually we can run with the joystick toggle press on controllers. I came back to the game after time away and noticed that no longer properly worked. I notice the avatar will twitch or jerk when I press the joystick as if it got the command but won't actually change to a running state. I find it more comfortable using a controller for character movement and less likely make mistakes with wrong inputs than with keyboard so I hope this issue will eventually be addressed

I propose to change the spacesuits, make them slots for medical equipment (syringes with medicines), which will automatically be used if the player becomes infected with a disease or poison.

A couple of things here. These opting could use a more verbose description the just 'Set strength/quality of X'. Some indication of performance impact would be good as well as if an option is CPU or GPU intensive for ALL the settings would also be a good addition.

I also started yet another test game on Ningues last night and have some feedback on that.
    • My first and only death so far was about a minuet after walking out of the starting shelter. I froze to death because I didn't have enough time to unlock the heater, find and grab the resources to make it, then wait for it to build. I think (don't really remember) it was also snowing so the temperature was lower as well. I used the default difficulty. Maybe raise the average temps on this planet a bit and prevent bad weather for a number of days after a player starts the game.
    • Copper rocks can be REALLY hard to find and are a major limiting factor staring out. Seems like the best place to find them is the taiga biome. I ended up just using crushed stone to make about half the copper I used for my junker HV and basic BA devices.
    • The hail weather is just plain obnoxious. There is no reason you should take THAT much damage form it wearing armor. This weather also causes progressing to grind to a halt short of puttering around in a base or build with your drone the player has nothing to do for 10 minuets unless they sleep and you cant even do that if your in multiplayer. If you want weather like hail to damage the player then fine. Drop the base damage by about 50% and use the players armor rating for the damage calculation. In heavy or even medium armor, you really should be impervious to hail. Unless of course the hail is the size of a football...Maybe add multiple levels of this weather like how you handle snow and rain.
    • I'm a little suppressed how much solar power I'm getting with just four large solar panels at the equator. It seems a little high with how much snowy weather I'm seeing.
    • I set tessellation to max and some of the ground textures seem really...bumpy. I would expect freshly fallen, undisturbed snow to be much more smooth and uniform.
    • Over all the lighting is very good but the godrays cast by lights at night are a little strong and distracting. EDIT: See my last point!
    • CPU usage is mostly consistent with my test game on Skillon. Max load while the save is loading hits ~40% on one core.
Load while playing is between 20% and 30%, staying fairly stable in the lower to mid 20s on one core.
Next two highest cores average ~15%.
      Next highest core average ~10%.
The other six cores mostly stay at 5% or less.
If you could find a way to spread the load more evenly the game would probably preform better. Having a single core remain relatively high isn't ideal. Try to find a way to move things out of the games main loop and into their own thread.
My CPU is a i9 9820x OC to 4.3 GHz. So not exactly modern but not a potato either.
    • Ram usage is about 5GB. Normally slightly less.
    • The new force fields look cool. Haven't tested them on anything larger then a 5x3 shutter door yet.
    • Having no base attacks is weird but welcome.
    • Hover bike speed limits are good and feel natural. Unfortunately ever time I get on one I get shot up 40m in the air!
    • Aiming with a scope is very choppy. Makes it hard to really zero in on a target at range.
    • The 'Dynamic Shadows' seem to be screen space shadows, NOT true model space shadows! They look kind of jarring and are a substantial performance hog. They look really ugly looking at an HV minigun turret and similar objects. At first I thought the effect I was seeing was caused by bad ambient occlusion but no. Turning this setting off (was max) saved a good 5% CPU usage on the main core and help others a bit across the board. Shouldn't this be handled entirely by the GPU? I don't understand why this is impacting CPU performance.
Now that I'm established I will begin testing the story mission properly...

    ...Really? REALLY!?
I'm sorry but these starting missions need some major work. I'm just going to copy and paste this here:
This part is particularly egregious. They send you to the coldest parts of the planet and tell you to do it at night, when it's even colder, to maximize the spawn rate. If your really lucky you got some medium or heavy armor form loot and if your super-dupper-extra lucky with a charry on top, you found a eva boost somewhere. But more likely you'll just have your staring light armor and maybe an insolation boost. The ice golems are rare even under the most ideal conditions, and to make it even worse, the alien organisms are a rare drop.

I spent more the 2 hours just trying to get the 5 alien organisms I need...

    === Edit ===
Oh, and then they send you through a fairly large wrecked building that isn't air tight so you either have to chug 'hot beverages' or keep running back to the single working shower to stay warm.

And THEN they send you down to the bottom of a deep pit, only to spawn drones up at the top to destroy your parked ship or HV! Great JOB!

I'm more then a little salty right now.

Where are these drones even coming from? There is no drone base on this moon. Are they flying in from space? Were they hiding in the bushes or under rocks??? This doesn't even make any sense!
