Any view on if this is going to be updated? I'm pretty new to EGS and just downloaded and installed this and Firefox latest version and it won't even let me Launch it.
Well, it seems FF dropped supporting local file usuage alltogether.. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US...dium=firefox-cors-errors&utm_campaign=default If you want to use the tool, you gotta go to about:config & set the flag privacy.file_unique_origin to false (Type about:config as the URL in firefox) Nothing I can do about it I do recommend that you set it back to true once you're done with the tool, as it can potentially leave you vulnurable on the web otherwise (This is a really stupid directive, as you've manually launched the bloody website in the first place.. )
I will give it a go, thank you. Do you know why it doesn’t work with edge? I’ve tried setting MicrosoftEdge.exe but it errors launching the pda.
thanks there Exacute what would it take to get you to repair the editor never got to use it but looks pretty solid
Not possible. The tool relied on a pure-browser solution; which required being able to read local files (Hence why it mattered so much where you placed it) - Firefox and chrome both allowed for 'reading down' from where the file were, given you knew filenames. The only way to get it to work is on your end, with changing browser configs. Because edge is garbage There's support for chrome and FF given you follow the steps to get it working on either
Also since there have been very limited support from Eleon, it have been quite a laborous undertaking trying to keep it up-to-date in the first place. There havn't been any support for the tool after A8 from their end. As you might notice if you look at the PDA, there's so many different 'types' of formatting and styles, that it's somewhat of a mess. If you are interested: -Zero donations on this tool -Since initial release, 2 people have contributed to the development (Testing/Data-analysis/PDA formats/code tweaks) (Ty @RexXxuS @Taelyn !) With everything constantly changing, the tool is shelfed for now, and is availible 'as-is'. It might make a return someday, but it is simply too much work to be worth the time as of now.
Well, I did donate 90$ to all of his projects (I had to pull my records as I was curious)... And helped with some early testing as can be seen early on. Though apparently that didnt count. I'll have to keep that in mind. Thank you for all of your hard work and effort. I was really looking forward to this project progressing.
Oh for sure. And I do very much appreciate the support. You did not make it clear that it was for anything but the mod-section (SG+CC) however; So apologies for not understanding that. The ePDA in its current version is (again mainly due to browser-restrictions) not really able to continue. As I mentioned in the post above: (It is not unthinkable once they've made up their mind as to what kind of PDA they're going for, that it might get an executable or something.. But atm, I don't see what they are going for)
I'll definitely contribute £££ when I can finally get it to work... I've been trying to use it on and off since 8, but could never get it to work properly and now it doesn't even show up. In any case we really appreciate what you've done and will definitely contribute one day... If you revive it...
Last I checked, it should be functional; Although with a few missing features; In FF you will have to disable the flag mentioned above (About:config => privacy.file_unique_origin to false) If you're using chrome, you need to follow the post on page #1 by raxxxus Given you've done that, it is likely a placement issue (It cannot be in a folder, and must be above the steam directory containing egs) Or that you havn't written the path correctly in the config file I appreciate the words of support, but it really isn't about the money in the end; It's nice being able to take some coffee and such on that behalf, but it is more than anything the concept 'PDA' being too unstable; If you've looked through the YAML the format keeps changing And with the API part supporting PDA, I want to see where that is heading; Wether it'll replace the yaml, or how it'll work in the future.. Ontop of that, FF dropping native support due to 'security concerns' (Which I could go on a long ass rant about why is idiotic, but.. ) makes the web-implementation even more difficult to get working for the end-user, to really be worth writing
The yaml wont be replaced. We might connect them together. But we cant replace the yaml many dont know c# and need the yaml file Thats already decided
No, no... It was never the tool that didn't work, it was in game I could never get it to work. I don't have much time in my life to spend on a game, so I was never very consistent and I've been getting less and less enthusiastic as time goes by because I haven't been able to create even the first planet scenario. The problems I have encountered since using it in no particular order: 1.- The scenario is story driven so it's absolutely worthless if I can't trigger the PDA to automatically start with the game. This has been my most common issue. 2.- Triggering messages close to certain locations/objects. 3.- Tasks getting stuck even though they been achieved 4.- Tasks not showing up in the pop up window. The window shows up, but not the text. 5.- Some text is pretty long and depending on the version of Empyrion it cuts off and you can't scroll down. There are other issues I don't remember at the moment. So the tool itself has ALWAYS worked for me, it's the game that's too buggy. To be honest, C# is as bewildering as the Yaml..., don't have a head for coding... If it where in C natural maybe...
@RexXxuS have just released his eWPDA; It runs online, rather than locally, so it doesn't suffer from the same issues that've made this project unable to be continued If you can live with needing an online connection, I'd strongle recommend swapping over to it. https://empyriononline.com/threads/tool-ewpda-empyrion-web-pda-v1-0-1.82979/
