I would really like to see an advanced gravity generator that can have its area of influence configured the same way that a motion sensor can. When you build anything that requires more than one gravity generator its extremely awkward to only have spheres to work with, since it will either create areas of overlap in your ship where the gravity is 2G+ or holes where you start to float. For ships like that it would be nice to have access to advanced gravity generators that have a configurable square area of influence.
Totally agree, I suggested something like this too: https://empyriononline.com/threads/choose-bounding-box-for-grav-gen-the-same-as-sensors-work.55795/ One great side-effect is the ability to create grav shafts as an alternative to the awkward elevators we have at the moment.
I posted a similar idea on Steam and it actually got some traction there. https://steamcommunity.com/app/383120/discussions/1/2998794978545873341/ I think your idea of just making the field configurable is the best yet. Notice us, Senpai
Something like... https://catlikecoding.com/unity/tutorials/movement/complex-gravity/ In the worst case, if they can't make the range adjustable, then at least they could change the "field" to be cubic or rectangular prism, so we can easily calculate the influence zones. With a sphere zone like it is presently, it's very hard not to have overlaps or gaps between the adjacent "gravity bubbles" and difficult to pinpoint where the limits are ( 37.5 blocks radius on horizontal plane, from the device's origin which is the center of the 2x2 blocks of the grav gen).
